The Women in Economics Network (WEN) invite you to a breakfast event with special guest speaker, Emeritus Professor Sue Richardson, Flinders University. Professor Richardson will discuss the following topic: Do minimum wages cost jobs?
About the speaker
Professor Richardson is currently a member of the Expert Panel of the Fair Work Commission that conducts the Annual Wage Review. She was previously Director of the National Institute of Labour Studies at Flinders University from 2000 to 2008. Prior to her appointment to NILS, she was Associate Professor at the University of Adelaide’s School of Economics, and from 2004 to 2009, she was a Commissioner of the Essential Services Commission of South Australia. She has been a Convener of the Academic Board and a member of the Council of the University of Adelaide and of its Finance Committee, on the Rhodes Scholarship selection committee, a member of the Ministerial Inquiry into Skills in South Australia, and co-editor of the Economic Record.
Sue’s research interests are in labour economics, with a recent focus on the ageing workforce, skill shortages, the links between work and health, immigration, and social inclusion.
