Women in Economics Network event: Circular economy action in regional SA: the early experience of developing CE blueprints for 2 regions

The Women in Economics Network (WEN) invite you to an evening event with our WEN Committee member Heather Bailey.  In 2021, RDA Limestone Coast and RDA Murraylands and Riverland joined with Green Industries SA to drive the creation of circular economy blueprints for these two regions. They engaged the BDO EconSearch, Hudson Howells and Rawtec consortium to assist them in this endeavour.

Heather will describe the key findings and lessons learnt from implementing this pioneering project, with the hope of stimulating further interest amongst communities and regional development practioners.

The evening will commence with a welcome speech by Anders Magnusson, Partner, BDO EconSearch and will be followed by presentation on circular economy by Heather Bailey. There will be opportunity for a Q&A session as well as networking afterwards.

About the speakers

Heather, who is a senior manager at BDO EconSearch, has over 15 years professional experience as an environmental scientist and economist in Australia and internationally, working across the private, government and not-for-profit sectors. With a background in economics, carbon accounting and environmental sciences, Heather is proficient at integrating these specialist skill sets amongst the teams she manages to deliver coherent projects and in communicating the outcomes to non-technical audiences. She has worked on projects across agriculture, water, carbon, marine resources and scientific research delivery for all levels of government, universities and industry associations.

Anders is Partner  in the BDO EconSearch team in South Australia and has over seven years’ experience in economic analysis across public, private and university sectors. His focus is on leveraging new technologies and administrative data for innovative analyses and communication of results, allowing him to unlock insights from the otherwise dormant data of many organisations. Anders’ experience includes implementing economic monitoring programs, economic impact analysis and cost benefit analysis across a broad range of industries, programs and projects. His breadth of experience allows him to bring new solutions to his clients from often surprising areas where comparable problems have been previously addressed.
