Invitation to Women in Economics Network and Young Economist event: Wellbeing economics with Katherine Trebeck

The Women in Economics Network (WEN) and Young Economists Network (YEN) invite you to an evening event with special guest speaker, Dr Katherine Trebeck. Katherine will reflect on her experiences as an advocate for economic system change, particularly with reference to the economics of wellbeing, ‘doughnut’ economics, and the care economy. She will provide examples from her international work, including the Scottish, Welsh, Finnish and New Zealand governments, as well as organisations like Oxfam, The Next Economy and The Democracy Collective. Following her presentation, Katherine will participate in a Q&A session.

About the speaker

Dr Katherine Trebeck is a political economist, writer and advocate for economic system change, focusing on the economics of wellbeing. Her roles include writer–at–large at the University of Edinburgh, consultant to the Club of Rome, a Strategic Advisor for the Centre for Policy Development, and Economic Strategy Advisor to The Next Economy. She is thinker–in–residence at the Australian National University’s Planetary Health Hot House. Katherine co-founded the Wellbeing Economy Alliance and also WEAll Scotland, its Scottish hub. She is a member of the Club of Rome and her board roles have included a range of groups such as the C40 Centre for Urban Climate Policy and Economy, the Centre for Understanding Sustainable Prosperity, and The Democracy Collaborative.
