This is not your standard economics lecture.

Instead, we are turning the tables: three young economists will lead an interactive conversation with Cherelle Murphy, Chief Economist at EY Oceania. Together, they will explore the big issues shaping our economy and the skills shaping our profession.

You will also have your say — submit and vote on questions via LinkedIn before the event. On the night, the top-voted questions will guide the discussion.

Meet Cherelle Murphy

Cherelle Murphy is EY Oceania’s Chief Economist, where she helps clients interpret the economic backdrop, providing timely insights and identifying risks and opportunities across the business cycle. She is a trusted advisor on economic and policy issues and publishes regularly.

Prior to joining EY, Cherelle was Chief Economist at Austrade, guiding government policy on trade, foreign investment, and tourism. She also spent 15 years at ANZ Bank, began her career as an economic research analyst at the Reserve Bank of Australia, and worked as a journalist at the Australian Financial Review.

Cherelle holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from Curtin University and a Master of Population Studies from the Australian National University. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of Chief Executive Women.
